IAAF World Championships: Brave Simbu won bronze  medal for Tanzania

Alphonce Simbu won bronze in the men’s marathon to extend his records as the most successful and inspirational Tanzanian athlete at the IAAF World Championships in London.

Simbu has won the medal after having third place ahead of Kenyan and Ethiopia athletics whereby Tanzanian women athletics Failuna Abdi Mtanga and 7 others failed to break his record after having 23 place with her running time of 32:31:58.

About 8 Tanzania Athletics participate at this year’s Great Britain World Marathon.

Kenyan runners dominated the London Marathon as Daniel Wanjiru and Mary Keitany won the men's and women's elite races respectively.

Keitany set a women world record, crossing the finishing line in 2:17:01, the quickest ever since men and women started racing separately.
