Spain defender Jordi Alba said he would put his friendship with Barcelonateammate Lionel Messi to one side if he faced Argentina at the World Cup.
Alba revealed that he is so competitive that he would never sit back and allow anyone get the better of him.
"He is the best in the world, if I had to defend against him, well everyone knows that on the pitch I don't have any friends. I don't want anyone to beat me, even my father, we have a good relationship but everyone does their best," he said.
"We try out things in training, we (he and Messi) look for each other in training but the truth is that the opposition know us and you cannot surprise them. When I get the ball I try to find him."
Alba claimed that he gets on with the Real Madrid players despite the fact he wants the team to lose.
"I have a strange relationship with them," he continued.
"I get on with them fine but I want them always to lose. I remember I wrote to them after the final they won against Juventus to congratulate them, although I said I would prefer them to lose."
