Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho will use the international break to scout his own personal transfer targets. The 54-year-old has spent close to £300million since taking over at Old Trafford but he’s still aggrieved at missing out on Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic last summer.
United trail Manchester City by eight points and it’s the Red Devils’ lack of creativity that has hindered them in recent weeks. Paul Pogba’s absence has clearly impacted United’s attacking play and Mourinho wants to add a playmaker to his squad.
According to Sky Sports, Mourinho will attend fixtures this weekend to watch over his targets before making a decision to move for them in the January transfer window. Mourinho’s been told he must sell before he buys and the likes of Luke Shaw and Marouane Fellaini could leave to raise funds.
Mourinho’s scouting trip suggests he’s planning for the long-term at Old Trafford, despite persistent speculation linking him with PSG. The Ligue 1 giants are said to be interested in hiring the Special One at the end of the season. Mourinho has 18 months remaining on his deal at the Theatre of Dreams.
