Jurgen Klopp believes Liverpool have an entirely "comfortable situation" at right-back following Nathaniel Clyne's return to training.

Clyne has not played at all this season due to a back injury, but featured in full training at Melwood last week for the first time and has been included in Liverpool's squad for the knockout rounds of the Champions League.

Youngsters Joe Gomez and Trent Alexander-Arnold have both shared right-sided full-back duties in Clyne's absence, with Klopp now delighted at the options at his disposal in the position.

"Clyney obviously missed football. He loves it. It was a long time; it's crazy how long it was and nobody could have imagined that but it's good [to have him back]," the Liverpool manager told the club's official website.

"All three can't play, unfortunately. With the full-backs, it's always a little bit [difficult] and also who can play in another position as well. It's quite specialist -- so you either play or you're not really involved. Clyney needs a little bit of time, that's true, but [he looks] very good.

"Trent did what he did and it's the first time he's started three games in a row -- I don't think he thought he could do that. At Southampton, I thought maybe he was a little bit on the edge, but we had no other opportunity [to change] so we had to do it again [at Porto] and he did fantastically.

"It's always like this, you need to be challenged and then you can see it and say: 'I'm ready for that.' It was good to see."

Clyne is part of the Liverpool squad in Marbella for a short training camp, having traveled to Spain directly after the team's 5-0 win at Porto on Wednesday night.

With the Merseyside club having no FA Cup fixture following their elimination by West Bromwich Albion in the fourth round, Klopp decided to use the free weekend to train in a warmer climate.
