LIVERPOOL star Mohamed Salah had three reasons for rejecting Real Madrid and Barcelona to sign a new Reds contract.
Liverpool star Salah was linked with Real Madrid and Barcelona in the wake of the Reds’ 3-1 Champions League final defeat to Los Blancos in May.
However, the Egypt international has now penned a new Anfield contract that will tie him to the club until 2023.
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp lauded Salah’s decision to rebuff the La Liga duo, saying: “I think this news can be seen for what it is; rewarding a person who performed and contributed greatly for the team and the club last season.
“It demonstrates two things very clearly also - his belief in Liverpool and our belief in him.
“We want world-class talent to see they have a home at Anfield where they can fulfil all their professional dreams and ambitions - we are working hard together to achieve this.
“When someone like Mo Salah commits and says this place is my home now, it speaks very loudly I think.”
And the Liverpool Echo have now delved into why the 25-year-old has chosen to stay put.
It is claimed Salah’s family are settled on Merseyside and, having only left Roma last term, he didn’t want to put them through the ordeal of relocating once again.
The player also has a good relationship with Liverpool fans.
Reds supporters adore their No 11 who blitzed 44 goals for the club during his first season.
Salah also made Liverpool fans forget all about Philippe Coutinho, who left back in January.
The Liverpool Echo suggest a third reason the Egypt international chose to stay put was Jurgen Klopp.
Klopp was the one who gambled by signing the player, who toiled at Chelsea during a previous stint in England, last summer.
And the Liverpool boss has since turned Salah into one of the best forwards on the planet.
