Paul Pogba hailed France's 'beautiful victory' over Italy despite being jeered by a section of his own fans following a below-par display at the Allianz Riviera Stadium.
Samuel Umtiti, Antoine Griezmann, and Ousmane Dembele fired Les Bleus to a 3-1 victory in Nice in their latest World Cup warm-up fixture.
But it was not a vintage night for Pogba, who was jeered by a section of his own fans after a misplaced pass in the second-half and again when he was replaced by Steven N'Zonzi with five minutes to go.
Taking to social media after the game, that reception did not seem to bother the 25-year-old.
"Beautiful victory tonight," he posted on Instagram alongside a photo of his team-mates' Fortnite celebration for Griezmann's goal.
Pogba was not the only France player who was whistled during the match - Florian Thauvin also felt the wrath of the crowd - and boss Didier Deschamps was keen to make that point post-match.
"The whistles for Paul Pogba? It's not just for him, at one point we kept the ball and they whistled too," he said. "It had already happened.
"The public also prefers to score five, six goals but it's high level, there is a team in front of us. The players do the right thing.
"Are they affected or not, I do not know... I will not remember that, but if it maybe could not be the case, it would be better."
