Marcus Rashford has urged his Manchester United team-mates to ‘bounce back’ from their defeat to Sevilla when they face Brighton at the weekend.
The 20-year-old forward started his first ever Champions League knockout stage match but it ended in crushing disappointment as United crashed out at the hands of Vincenzo Montella’s men.
Wissam Ben Yedder’s quickfire brace in the second-half silenced the Old Trafford crowd and Romelu Lukaku’s 84th minute strike was merely a consolation for the Red Devils.
Rashford’s sensational double against Liverpool should have been the perfect preparation ahead of Tuesday night but he was unable to replicate his form from the weekend.
‘Fell short last night, hard result to take! We have to bounce back on Saturday,’ he said on Instagram following the defeat. Paul Scholes urged Jose Mourinho to drop Sanchez to enable Rashford to flourish in his best position for United.
‘We found it strange after Saturday. He played up the right side to bring Sanchez into his best position,’ Scholes said on BT Sport.
‘I think Marcus’ best position is on the left side. He (Sanchez) gave the ball away so many times. ‘I think he has to choose his best front three and be brave enough to leave one out. At the minute Sanchez has to be left out.’
