Taifa Stars head coach, Salum Mayanga, revealed that his opponent Benin was full of professional players that made him to use only experienced players at the game played yesterday at l'Amitie Stadium in Cotonou city
Mayanga revealed that after viewed Benin squad he decided to change his squad and listed only experienced players.
Football lovers, fans and other stakeholders, have criticized the decisions of Mayanga to use Himid Mao as fullback rather than midfielder.
Mau who is who played for ‘Ice Cream makers’ Azam FC and the yesterday Taifa Stars Captain is among the best midfielder in the country and he is always happy when he play from the center of the pitch.
But that was not a reason to Mayanga, amazingly for the first time yesterday he used player as right defender.
“Fans don’t take things as usual, we play away and with tough team, I need experienced players.
“Azam sometimes used Himid as right back defender. I look on that and due to his experience I take that decisions and to me was a right decision.
“I was playing with depth squad with a lot of professional players, I wasn’t supposed to test players, I was there to use players who will bring results,” said Mayanga.
Moreover, Mayanja congratulated his players for the sprit they showed even after been down for one goal and referees contradiction decisions.
“I am proud of them, they equalized the goal though referee showed openly to be on one side,” He added.
Taifa Stars forced 1-1 draw with West Africa giant Benin yesterday.
