Modric to tell Florentino Perez he wants to leave Real Madrid -report

Croatian midfielder Luka Modric will tell Real Madrid president Florentino Perez that he wants to leave the club this summer to join Inter Milan, according to a report from Spanish radio station Onda Cero.

Modric has a lucrative contract offer from Inter for the next four seasons and it even includes a future two-year deal in the Chinese league.

Real Madrid could offer Modric a salary raise to convince him of staying in the Spanish capital, as they won’t let him leave the club, according to MARCA.

Real Madrid just sent Mateo Kovacic on a loan deal to Chelsea because the midfielder wasn’t going to be a starter this season.

Now, if Modric forces his way out of the club it’s clear that Kovacic would’ve been the starter alongside Toni Kroos, so Los Blancos will need to sign at least one midfielder.

They might even do so even if Modric stays in Real Madrid, given that Lopetegui confirmed in press conference that he wanted a player “of Kovacic’s quality” if Chelsea’s deal for the midfielder was confirmed.
