Chelsea have announced the appointment of former Napoli manager Maurizio Sarri.
Sarri has been continually linked with the Chelsea manager’s position in recent weeks. Antonio Conte’s time at Stamford Bridge has now come to an end, with the club looking to embark on a new chapter.
Napoli were one of the most entertaining sides in Europe last season. The football they played was comparable to Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City side. Guardiola has previously described Sarri as someone he looks up to.
Chelsea’s performances have become lacklustre and stagnant, and Sarri may be just the man we needed to inject life back into the side. With pre-season underway, he will be wasting no doubt drilling his new players on his expectations.
It’s difficult to say goodbye to Conte after what he has given to the club over his two-year reign, but the optimism we have for life under Sarri will make the transition far more straightforward.
