Strikers Emmanuel Okwi and John Bocco helped Simba Sports Club to a comfortable 2-0 home win against visitors Tanzania Prisons in the Vodacom Premier League in Dar es Salaam Monday.
Okwi scored his 19th goal of the season from a penalty spot after captain Bocco was felled in the area.
Simba ended the first 45 minutes with a 1-0 advantage after John Bocco opened the scoring after 35 minutes of the match. A lovely cross from the left delivered by utility player Erasto Nyoni found Okwi who had the ball in the back of the net for a well-deserved lead for the home side.
Simba lead top of the standings after with 58 points in 24 games followed by Yanga with 47 points after 22 games.
It was a high tension game for both sides, given the history of the encounter between the two teams.
It was another impressive performance from Simba, after a 60% possession of the ball.
Striker John Bocco has scored 14 goals in the Vodacom Premier League season.
Okwi tops the leaderboard with 18 goals so far. Yanga striker Obrey Chirwa is third with 12 strikes.
