Massive news breaking in Spain as Real Madrid have appointed Julen Lopetegui as their new manager.

The Spain manager will take over at the Bernabeu after his time at the World Cup.

Julen Lopetegui will be the new manager of Real Madrid following the World Cup in Russia,” read a statement.

“Real Madrid can confirm that Julen Lopetegui will be the new manager of the first team for the next three seasons.

“Julen Lopetegui will join the club after his spell with the Spanish national team at the World Cup, after two years managing the side.”

The club have been linked with several names since Zidane’s departure with the likes of Guti, Arsene Wenger and Mauricio Pochettino all talked about.

But in a surprise twist, Lopetegui has been named as the new man in Madrid.

A club statement read: “Real Madrid CF announces that Julen Lopetegui will coach the first team for the next three seasons.
