Liverpool and Chelsea were not the only two clubs interested in signing a Lyon star Nabil Fekir during the summer, a report claims.
The France international was on the verge of a £60million move to Anfield, but the Reds reportedly pulled out of a move due to an old knee injury that showed up during the medical.
Fekir had previously commented on why the move collapsed, firing shots at Liverpool for their role in the saga and admitting he has moved on.
However, according to French outlet L’Equipe (via Calciomercato), Real Madrid were keen on landing the 25-year-old as they sought a replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo’s production.
Florentino Perez was linked with making a move for several Galacticos during the summer, including Neymar, Eden Hazard and Kylian Mbappe.
However, it is claimed that Perez never placed a formal bid for Fekir despite his interest.
The France international enjoyed a stellar 2017-18 campaign with Lyon, netting 18 Ligue 1 goals and amassing eight assists.
