THE management of SportPesa gaming has handed over the refurbished Tanzania’s Main National Stadium to the Minister for Information, Culture, Arts and Sports, Dr Harrison Mwakyembe.
It is likely that after it is handed to the government, major rival clubs will start using the ground after it was closed for maintenance more than three months.
This time Simba Sports Club will have a chance to use the Stadium as its home ground when host Yanga Africans in second leg Vodacom Premier League.
Simba SC will host Yanga Africans in March 2018, the national Stadium was under maintenance after a promise by Sports Pesa during Everton Versus Gormahia match.
The Stadium will be free to use November 24, 2017 that will be round of 14 VPL after Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup , Simba and Yanga expecting to be back as the home ground but Msimbazi based Club will have advantage to host against traditional rival.
The two clubs always use the same venue as the home stadium but due to renovation they continued to use Uhuru Stadium for their games.
The traditional derby for the first leg has passed with 1-1 draw Yanga Africans hosted Simba.
Minister Mwakyembe thanked Sportspesa for their passions of developing football in Tanzania.
Yanga, Simba and Singida United are the VPL clubs that have received heavy sponsorship from Sportpesa.
