The Red Devils' £75million summer signing, who scored twice for Belgium on Friday, hasn't scored for seven club games

Romelu Lukaku has explained the reason behind his recent Manchester United goal drought after failing to find the back of the net in his last seven club appearances.

The 24-year-old got back to scoring ways against Mexico for Belgium on Friday, scoring twice in the international friendly.

Lukaku's last goal also came for Belgium, in their 2018 World Cup qualifying win over Cyprus.

After the Red Devils striker got off to a blistering start, scoring 11 goals in 10 appearances, he's struggled in recent months.

Speaking after his brace, the striker revealed his lack of goals is down to a mixture of injuries and lack of chances.

"Lately we haven’t performed like we did at the start of the season, we started by blowing teams away, being dominant and creating chances," Lukaku told Sky Sports.

"But in the last few weeks we didn’t play at the same level and that made it more difficult for me.

"That’s the sort of thing you have to go through in the season, but now there are players coming back from injury and hopefully we can deliver performances even better than at the start of the season. We can create more chances and more goals."

On how it felt to score again, Lukaku added: "Yes, it's a relief but I knew it would come. I feel great to be honest.

"I was born to score. I don't think many strikers of my generation have as many goals as me. I am like a leopard in the box."

Should Manchester United fans be worried about Romelu Lukaku's loss of form?
