Sanchez may quit Manchester United amid tough Mourinho orders

MANCHESTER UNITED star Alexis Sanchez may quit the club after Jose Mourinho threatened to strip him of his No 7 shirt, according to reports.

Manchester United star Sanchez has struggled since moving from Arsenal back in January.

The Chile international swapped places with Henrikh Mkhitaryan but managed to score just three times last term.

Claims have emerged saying that United want Cristiano Ronaldo to inherit Sanchez’s squad number.

The Portugal international has threatened to quit Real Madrid and, nine years on from a Red Devils exit, a spectacular homecoming could be in the works.

And Spanish website Don Balon say Sanchez may leave Manchester United this summer.

It is said Mourinho has patched things up with Ronaldo and wants his compatriot to boost his attack.

United already have plenty of forward options at their disposal.

But Ronaldo has always appealed to Red Devils CEO Ed Woodward and, if he is available, a move could happen.

Mourinho has reportedly ordered the 33-year-old to receive his old No 7 jersey if he returns.

And Don Balon report Sanchez must either accept that or face being cut loose.

The 29-year-old recently admitted he had underwhelmed for United so far, saying: "We still have areas where we can continue to improve.

”I think that every game I’ve played in up to now I’ve maybe found it hard to adapt to the style of play and I’ve been getting to know my team-mates.

"I believe we need to improve in all aspects. We need to be focused and concentrated in the big games and the same in the so-called lesser games too.

"I believe that United really is a very big club on a worldwide scale and even more so in England where it’s the biggest.

"They always want to win and to be fighting on all fronts and that’s the reason I wanted to come here.

“I also had some great players alongside me at Barcelona. I think that United are not too dissimilar as a club to them in their size and stature."
