Simba Sports Club returned to league action with a thumping 5-0 demolition to Mwanza’s Mbao FC in the ongoing Vodacom Mainland Premier League encounter at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam on Monday.

Simba’s Uganda international striker Emmanuel Okwi scintillating form continued, after netting a brace.

The match was tough as expected. Mbao FC lost due to individual errors that witnessed defender David Mwasa causing 3 goals through deflections.

The first half ended with Simba Sports Club leading 2 goals after Shiza Kichua scored 38 minutes after kick off following cruel deflection of Mbao FC defender David Mwasa.

VPL top goal scorer Emmanuel Okwi netted his 15th goal of the VPL season thanks to a penalty after 41 minutes giving Simba a lead in the first half.

Second half was full of entertainment, as Simba continued with the same pace giving them another chance to score in the 69th minute by Okwi and later Versatile defender who came in after 82 minutes.

Ghanaian Nicholas Gyan grabbed his side’s fourth two minutes later, from a rebound.

Frustration was building up on Mbao FC players, and the captain was given his marching order after a reckless foul on Simba striker Laudit Mavugo. The referee gave him a second yellow and a red which sent him packing.
