Simba’s day: Niyonzima, Okwi and Boko to show action against Rayon Sport today

By Amini Nyaungo

Tanzania Simba Sports Club is today hosting their annual members’ day at the National Stadium in Dar es Salam on a friendly match against Rayon Sport from Rwanda.

Simba SC will bring ‘on pitch’ new signings such as Haruna Niyonzima, Emmanuel Okwi and John Boko.

The Reds from Msimbazi Streeet have already played two games this summer during their preseason tour of South Africa, and today’s match will be their first appearance in front of the home fans since played away with Orlando Pirates and Bidvest.

The battle against Rayon Sport is one of the opportunities for Simba SC Head Coach Joseph Omog to assess his options ahead of the 2017 Vodacom Premier League season.

With that in mind, here are things to look for at the Simba’s battle against Rayon Sport

Haruna Niyonzima

Can Emmanuel Okwi, John Boko open their accounts?

New signing John Boko couldn't find the net in any of the following two games in Simba’s preseason tour in South Africa last three weeks.

That shouldn't be a cause for concern, but the striker will surely want to open his account at the National Stadium as quickly as possible -- preferably today.

Emmanuel Okwi:

A goal in front of the Simba SC fans today for Emmanuel Okwi would certainly settle any jitters the Ugandan striker might have while trying to show fans his status as the club's new signing.

Emanuel Okwi (L) and Mo Dewji

Expected lineup.

1. Said Mohamed ‘Nduda’

2. Ali Shomari

3. Jamal Mwambeleko

4. Salim Mbonde

5. Erasto Nyoni

6. Jonas Mkude

7. Jamal Mnyate

8. Haruna Niyonzima

9. John Bocco

10. Emmanuel Okwi

11. Mohammed Ibrahim
