SELECTION of the stadiums to be used for the AFCON would depend on the quality of the pitch and Hotels that can hold all guests who will come to witness the tournament, the deputy Minister of Information, Culture, Arts and Sports Juliana Shonza has informed the House.

She was responding to a question asked by Elibariki Kingu Member of Parliament Singida West (CCM) who wanted to know whether the government would use the newly refurbished Namfua Stadium for the coming tournament in the year 2019.

Deputy Minister said she will seek advice from her immediate boss on how they can use Namfua Stadium and if it will qualify will to make the list.

Shonza told MPs that if the construction of new Dodoma Stadium will be complete before year 2019 and will be on the list to be used for the AFCON tournament.

The stadium is to be built by funds from King Mohammed VI of Morocco, she said adding the Government can not push them to finish construction quickly.

“I thank all Singida residents for their passion and participation in sports, I will go further to advise the Minister about Namfua Stadium, but the Dodoma Stadium we will see if complete before 2019 will be entered on the list” She said.
