As a way of preparing the upcoming Vodacom Premier League (VPL) season 2017/18, Azam FC will play three testing matches in Southern Highlands regions.
Team Manager Phillip Alando told Azania Post that Azam has been invited to play the three testing games against premier league teams from Mbeya, Iringa and Njombe.
He said Azam FC first testing match will be against Mbeya City on 22 July at Sokoine Stadium and two days later the team will play against newly VPL league entrance Njombe Mji at Amani Stadium in Makambako.
However, Alando said two days later, his side faces another newly promoted side Lipuli FC at Somora Stadium in Iringa.
The Manager described those three friendly matches as very good for his side since will help head coach Aristica Cioaba to assess his players before kicks off of the VPL.
“We are very happy that the Club has been invited to play three games in Southern highlands, the friendlies will help the team to be in shape ahead of the Vodacom Premier League, and the head coach will also asses the team,” he said.
The official also disclosed that upon his return from the Southern highlands his team will rest for two days before resuming trainings.
He said the team will also play two friendly matches against Mtwibwa Sugar and Ruvu shooting at Azam Complex in Chamazi at the dates to be announced later.
The team recently was in Rwanda where they played one international game against Rayon Sports and lost 4-2
