Tanzania hopes of reaching the finals of 5000 meters at the world athletics championships in the United Kingdom were dashed as local athlete’s flops in Wednesday night.
In the category, the East African nation was represented by two athletes Emanuel Giniki and Gerard Geay in the 5000 meters.
Geay did not compete as he was reported sick while Giniki finished on the 15ths position.
Athletics Association (AT) secretary general Wilham Gidabudai who earlier yesterday expressed his confidence the two locals could qualify for the finals could not respond to our email massage when we wanted to have full details from him.
However, on earlier interview the SG said only those who emerge in the top five and best loosers will qualify for the finals set for August 12.
The only pride for Tanzania which send 8 athletes to the championships is Felix Sumbu who won bronze medal at the event.
