Ten Matches that defined Zidane's Caree at Real Madrid

Zinedine Zidane's announcement that he was stepping down as Real Madrid's coach on Thursday brought to an end 878 hugely successful days at the club.

During that time he claimed one LaLiga title, a Spanish Supercopa, three Champions League crowns, two European Super Cups and two Club World Cups in the process.

Now with his tenure over, we look back at 10 matches that have come to define Zidane's time at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.

Barcelona 1-2 Real Madrid (LaLiga 2015/16)

Zidane's first big win at Real Madrid came in the shape of comeback against Barcelona at the Camp Nou.

Despite being a goal, and a man down, with Pique scoring and Ramos sent off, goals from Karim Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo sealed an impressive victory.

Real Madrid 1 (5) - 1 (3) Atletico Madrid (Champions League final 2016)

Los Blancos' Champions League victory over cross-town rivals Atletico Madrid was the Frenchman's first piece of silverware since taking over the reins of the club, and Real Madrid's 11th European Cup title.

Real Madrid 3-0 Atletico Madrid (Champions League 2016/17)

Things didn't get any better for the Rojiblancos a year later, this time in the semi-finals of Europe's premier club competition, as a hattrick from Ronaldo secured Real Madrid's ticket to the final in Cardiff.

Deportivo 2-6 Real Madrid (LaLiga 2016/17)

In a match which not only demonstrated the incredible depth in Real Madrid's line-up as well as Zidane's credentials as a capable man manager, the Frenchman opted to deploy his 'B' team to devastating effect in what was an exhibition in attacking football.

Malaga 0-2 Real Madrid (LaLiga 2016/17)

Real Madrid's 2-0 win on the final day of the 2016/17 season sealed Zidane's first ever LaLiga title as coach.

Real Madrid 4-1 Juventus (Champions League final 2017)

An incredible second half display saw Zidane create history, guiding his side to a second successive Champions League title, their 12th European Cup.

Real Madrid 2-1 Manchester United (European Super Cup 2017)

Zidane proved yet again he has a knack of winning cup titles, helping his side to a second consecutive European Super Cup, narrowly defeating Jose Mourinho's side.

Real Madrid 2-0 Barcelona (Spanish Super Cup 2017)

Los Blancos capitalised on Barcelona's shaky start to the season following Neymar's departure, showcasing their own firepower with a 3-1 win at the Camp Nou in the first-leg before a 2-0 win in the return leg.

Juventus 0-3 Real Madrid (Champions League 2017/18)

For a second straight year, the Bianconeri fell victim to Real, this time in the quarterfinals where a 3-0 away win effectively sealed progression into the semi-final stage.

Real Madrid 3-1 Liverpool (Champions League final 2018)

In what would be his final game in charge, the decision to replace Isco with Gareth Bale midway through the second half proved to be a masterstroke as the Welshman singlehandedly won Real Madrid their 13th European title, and Zidane's third Champions League since joining the club.
