Simba SC’s Uganda international Emmanuel Okwi scored his seventh Vodacom Premier League (VPL) goal of the season to secure a dramatic draw at home against Mtibwa Sugar on Sunday that lifted them on top of the table above rivals Yanga Africa who was at the spot before today’s clash.
The draw at Uhuru Stadium in Dar es Salaam means Simba SC have now with 12 points which ensures them on spot for another week, the same points with Mtibwa Sugar but leads with a goal difference.
Okwi broke the deadlock drilling in an injury time after playing a good free-kick which showed football lovers in the country on to why he was the best summer signing player of Simba SC.
Taifa Stars player, Stamili Mbonde scored for Mtibwa Sugar in 35 minutes of the first half by getting a good assist from Issa Rashid. The first half ended with Simba SC 0-1 Mtibwa Sugar.
Second half was more delicious than first half, some changes made by both sides seems to add a test of the game. Mtibwa Sugar played well in the pivot of the pitch while Simba used its left and right wingers to add a pressure against Mtibwa.
