Tanzania Mainland league Champions Dar es Salaam Young Africans (Yanga) has arrived safely in Songea, Ruvuma region ahead of their battle against Majimaji fc at the Majimaji Stadium on Saturday August 16.
Yanga will continue defending their title in Songea with the comeback of Obrey Chirwa and Donald Ngoma who want to unlock their goals accounts.
While Yanga is expected to christen the Majimaji Stadium in their first leg this season, rivals Simba SC will play at Uhuru Stadium in Dar es Salaam on Sunday against Mwadui fc.
Yanga got the better against Majimaji in their all matches of last season when its former striker and Difaa El Jadida player Simon Msuva goals settled a thrilling contest of 3-0 at National Stadium and as well as a winning goal at Majimaji Stadium on a 0-1 win.
However, the first match in 2017/18 VPL saw Yanga Africa drew first blood against Lipuli from Iringa town while at the second round, Jangwani Boys won 1-0 in Njombe against Njombe Mji, thanks to Simba SC former striker Ibrahim Ajibu who scored a winning goal.
Yanga Africa spokesperson Dismas Ten said: “After our winning game in Njombe, that is where we have started our winning journey… and we expect to see winnings in all of our next matches.”
While Yanga is in good track after a one win and single draw, Majimaji fc lost the opening game against Mbeya City on a 1-0 and drew 2-2 against Mbeya City.
Yanga former star, Jerson Tegete who is now playing with Majimaji fc, will meet with his fellows at the Saturday battle.
The football games always can’t predict who is better than the other but the 90 minutes on pitch will express the result on who is the winner.
