TANZANIA’S Vodacom Premier League (VPL) continues today (Monday) evening as the defending Champions Yanga Sports Club takes on Stand United at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam.
A win for the Dar es Salaam giants would bring them level with bitter rivals Simba SC on 46 points. However, a win is unlikely to move them into the top, as the reds have a far superior goal difference.
Stand United do not have a very fine memory of their matches at the National Stadium, as they lost all of last season’s fixtures.
Football fans in the country were surprised recently when Stand United fought their way from a two-goal deficit to eventually draw 3-3 with giants Simba. Simba were widely expected to win.
Yanga has accumulated 43 points so far and are in third place while Stand United are placed in 11 position with 20 points.
On Sunday, Azam FC won 2-1 against Mbao FC, Tanzania Prisons won 2-1 against Mtibwa Sugar, Ruvu Shooting were held to a 2-2 draw on their home ground Mabatini against Mbeya City.
Matches between Majimaji and Lipuli as well as Singida United against Ndanda both went barren draw of 0-0.
